Weekly Report (only a couple days late)

We are just loving MFW Exploring Countries and Cultures. The boys all seem to agree that Geography is now their favorite subject of all time. (Followed closely by Lively Latin according to The Computer...who knew that Latin could be so fun?)

So this week, we've been focusing on the USA. It seems the boys never get tired of filling in the names of the states on a blank map. Other than the New England states, they've pretty much got the rest of them down. Anyone have any hints for remembering all those small states on the Northeast?

Because we are studying the USA, we talked a bit about what it was like for the early settlers. Last year, we did MFW Adventures so they remember quite a bit from that program. I forgot to prepare the art project for the week so we had to go with materials we had here at home which meant paper, paper and more paper. The boys liked the idea of the quilts made from scraps. Instead of cloth, we used paper. They boys had a great time designing their scrap quilts and decided they would be perfect for their stuffed animals.

In Science, we're still learning about deserts. The Computer has asked for a shoebox and some clay so he can make a "full" picture of a desert. I think he's going for a diorama type thing.

And now for the biggie...Fearless Flyer actually get some pictures of his school work. We're pretty laid back with him for now. We did get a start on the main goal for the school year thanks to the folks over at homeschool share. He's so excited to be working on his Alphabet Notebook. For the first few letters, we are doing a page a day. So far we've got A, B, C, D and E. Those were the letters he already knew though. Next week, we'll be getting into some letters he isn't sure of.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
