Well, this isn't exactly Whidbey Island yet, but that's coming tomorrow.
We (I) decided it would be fun to spend our anniversary at the same Bed & Breakfast on Whidbey Island that we stayed at on our honeymoon 11 years ago. The Man decided that he loved me enough to go along with it. Or was it I just asked him enough times? I guess we'll never know.
So, we dropped the boys off with the grandparents and headed out. It was a gorgeous day and we had plenty of time to get to Port Townsend where we would take the ferry across to the island so we decided to head up Hwy 101. We started out around 11:15 with Annie, the GPS unit, telling us to go a completely different way and that it should take about 5 hours. We figured we knew more than she did and went on with our plans.
About 1:00, we decided we were hungry for a Subway $5.00 sub, asked Annie where the nearest one was and we were off. After which, she kept telling us to make a legal u-turn to get to Port Townsend. We should have listened. In our defense though, it was a beautiful drive through the rain forest area.
At about 6:30ish, we saw the town of Port Townsend. Yes, what should have been about a 4 1/2 hour drive turned into over 7 hours. At least our car gets great gas mileage on the highway and we saw some deer. The only problem now? We hadn't reserved a room here for the night. Our original plan was to head up on Friday, but everything came together to leave on Thursday.
After a couple a of phone calls, The Man found us this wonderful little place to stay. It's the Anne Starrett house and it's for sale. I tried to talk The Man into buying it by telling him what a wonderful place it would be to homeschool, but he didn't go for it. One night was all I got.
We walked along the waterfront and found a wonderful place for dinner. It was the opening night for Dark Knight and The Man wanted to get tickets, but there was only one theater near us and it was sold out. Oh well, there's always next time right?
It was a beautiful evening and we were looking forward to heading over on the ferry the next morning.

Beautiful house!! I'd love to buy it for homeschooling as well.
We're also celebrating our 11th anniversary this week!
